About

Karin Araneta

In 2009, Karin (referred to by earlier clients as “Anna”) adopted a male Beagle, Jorge. It was later determined that he was autistic. Along with her educational background in Psychology, this sparked Karin’s interest in dog behavior.

Karin apprenticed under Jojo Isorena at BetterDog Canine Behavior Center and trained with other dog trainers certified under the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, Karen Pryor Clicker Training, and Starmark Animal Behavior Center (formerly known as Triple Crown Dog Academy).

By 2012, she established BesoMomma Canine Talents which casts and trains dogs (and cats!) in TV commercials.

In 2014, Karin relocated to the U.S.

By 2016, Karin acquired her own certification, started New York City-based dog training business BesoMomma Dog Training and Behavior Management, and was invited by Animal Behavior College to be an Externship Mentor Trainer. In 2019, she joined the Animal Care Centers of NYC as a Volunteer Dog Trainer.

In addition to teaching Basic and Advanced Obedience, Introduction to Agility, and Trick / Clicker Training, Karin has trained deaf dogs, a dingo/wild dog, and special needs dogs with Canine Autism and Canine Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (C-OCD). She specializes in helping city dwellers raise puppies and hand-picks behavior cases no matter the distance.

Karin is working on her second certification under Mike D’Abruzzo’s Foundation Style Dog Training.

What our clients say about us

Quite simply the kindest, most caring, patient person ever. Me and my boyfriend are first-time puppy owners and our dog is exhibiting concerning behaviors. After just one video conference we felt so much better and that we can actually do this! The potty training 101 especially is fantastic and really opened our eyes to so many areas for improvement for us. We cannot thank her enough & have purchased her whole in-person package! Highly recommend!!!!

We had never been dog-parents before and brought home our first dog 3 years ago. He was a baby Toy Poodle and neither he nor the two of us knew quite what to do with basic dog etiquette, house training, learning cool new tricks, or simply obeying important commands. Karin to the rescue! She worked patiently with us to teach us how to teach him. She explained the way dogs think and helped us understand what works and what doesn’t. Every time we had a question, Karin had a *comprehensive* answer, broken down into specific behaviors, actions, motivations, etc. After our in-person sessions, Karin made herself available “for life” to help with questions and issues over the phone and video chat. Even now, when I have a question, she’ll tell me to send her a video of the behavior I’m asking about, and then she’ll observe it carefully and get back to me with specific guidance. Karin has helped us train our puppy on new behaviors and tricks, on correcting behaviors we don’t approve of, and on picking the right kinds of toys and tools to keep Newman on his best behavior. Karin is more than a trainer – she is a trusted advisor for life, and she has become a friend over our years of working with her.

Four months ago my roommate and I adopted two Toy Australian shepherd puppies (littermates). Australian shepherds are an intelligent breed and are amazing dogs…if trained properly. We are so happy we found Karin, she is very knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about what she does. Having littermates can be difficult and I don’t think we truly understood what we were in for! Since our sessions with Karin, we have been doing great with potty training, establishing ourselves as the ‘leader’, recall (which we have learned is so important), sit, down, stay…and so on. She is extremely patient and is available literally 24/7 to answer questions. After finishing our sessions, Karin still makes herself available to answer questions and give advice. She treated each dog separately and addressed both of their issues. I highly recommend Karin!

The One About Drugs

Chance had a pretty successful training walk today. There were less dogs out than usual (because…pandemic), so that helped. The only one she really barked at was a neighbor’s Pug that came out of their backyard already barking its head off, and yet Chance gave it up...

The One About COVID-19

There’s no doubt about it…these are crazy times! I’ve been working from home for over three weeks. Yes, I actually have a day job and am therefore one of the fortunate ones to remain employed during this lockdown. Normally able to accept dog training clients only on...

The One About Love

Cinnamon was a first time dam. At some point, probably when she was exhausted from nursing her 7 pups, she bit 3 of them. One pup had it worst, they said. Knowing my luck I immediately assumed it was the one I had secretly chosen within minutes from them being born....
