There’s no doubt about it…these are crazy times!
I’ve been working from home for over three weeks. Yes, I actually have a day job and am therefore one of the fortunate ones to remain employed during this lockdown. Normally able to accept dog training clients only on weeknights or weekends, working from home (until further notice) now gives me more flexibility.
As first time dog owners, those raising a puppy, or those dealing with a behavior issue can attest, training cannot and should not wait! So what now?
I’ve been offering virtual classes for years, now more than ever before! Remote learning through video chat gets the same results for less amount of money (that can be better spent on basic necessities). There are a few exceptions, of course. And for those truly exceptional cases, I continue to offer home visits.
$75 = 1st Session (2 hours) – video chat
Groundwork: Why We Train, How Dogs Learn, “Reward” and “Punishment”, the importance of establishing Leadership, introduction to Crate Training and Potty Training (when applicable).
The session usually ends with learning how to train your first command and some homework.
$180 = 2nd to 4th Sessions (1 hour each) – video chats
Commands: Sit, Down, Leave It, Recall (come), Wait by the Door (stay), Place/Spot/Crate training, Walking on a Loose Leash.
$240 to $340 (depending on location) = 5th to 6th Sessions (1.5 hours each)
– in-home visit!
This is when we tie any loose ends, and likely train outdoor.
TOTAL: $495 to $595 (depending on location) = 6 sessions (8 hours)
